An Access Statement is primarily written to assist the person using the service, or business. It will, usually, provide an honest, and simple-to-follow, assessment of the accessible features of your service, or business, and more importantly, what barriers to access might exist. This enables the people your service, or business, to then assess for themselves whether it is accessible for them. Such information often improves the experience of the individual, and can reduce complaints, or actions, against you.
An Access Statement is a normally a summary version of an Access Audit, although it can be completed as a stand-alone document. It can be used to compliment the Access Audit, or as a stand-alone report. An Access Statement can be particularly useful to inform your website data, or as a summary report for promotional documents, by example.
At Access Alba, we provide an Access Statement with images and text. The text provides a brief description of accessibility within the environment. Our Access Statements contain a star-rating system, to indicate to the level of accessibility. Our Access Statements are provided in easy read format.
